PHTA Evaluation of Western Loudoun PHNST Feasibility Study

The map shows the Feasibility Study's suggested PHNST routes (in black, purple, blue and green) and our proposed Waterford route in green. The purple route avoids Harpers Ferry National Park to pass along narrow paved roads with fast traffic; we feel the (black) route through the National Park is far preferable. The black route near Leesburg recommended by the Study is excellent.
The chart addresses the middle section (north of Leesburg, south of Lovettsville) where PHTA believes the routes (through Taylorstown and Lucketts) recommended by the Study are impractical—they require excessive land acquisition and would take decades to build. Instead, PHTA recommends a western alignment through Waterford, which is more scenic, costs less and requires significantly less land acquisition.
